We are a Cumberland Presbyterian Church located in Franklin County, (Winchester) Tennessee near the Tims Ford Lake providing exceptional worship, educational, fellowship and service ministry opportunities for all ages. Our pastor, Dr. Joseph H. Butler, and elders challenge and lead us to be a proactive Christian witness in our community. This begins with worship which is intergenerational and blended with elements of tradition and contemporary. Small groups gather to study and plan for ministry through the Sunday School, and Women’s and Men’s fellowship. The children and youth are led not only for recreation, but also to share in ministry projects such as the Heifer Project and Samaritan’s Shoe Box Ministry.
Harmony records show the gathering of a congregation as early as 1857. A gift of land was deeded to the elders in February, 1859. This gift was to be used for a church, cemetery and school. A white frame church was constructed in 1859. In 1949, a brick structure was built. From another gift of land, Harmony was able to dedicate a Family Life Center in 1988. This was the first Family Life Center in Franklin County. In 2009, a new educational annex was constructed. Harmony has been blessed with seventeen pastors. Although the school no longer exists, the annual Homecoming provides a time to share the memories of the community and members of the church. The cemetery is maintained by the church through a fund supported by donations. What began as a small country church now meets the needs of a thriving and diverse congregation, located near the banks of Tims Ford Lake.
As you enter the community, you will find a cordial welcome and a challenge to look for ways in which you too my be a servant for the Lord Jesus Christ.
Where two or three are gathered in My Name, there am I with them.
